British retailer SIZE? has once again chosen to partner with the Beaverton giant to offer us a collaboration based on the silhouette of the popular Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Cage 2. This pair is named after the famous London shopping street in Soho district, where SIZE?’s flagship shop is located : « Carnaby ».
This sneaker was created for the 20th anniversary of SIZE? and pays tribute to the colourful pop-art past of Carnaby Street, a place of inspiration for artists such as Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. The silhouette, designed by the legendary Steven Smith, features a bold colour palette. We find an upper combining white mesh and synthetic material on the front of the foot, with beige suede overlays. The side panels come in ocean blue and mint green. The side swoosh is highlighted by its black colour and candy-pink contours. The heel, covered in mustard yellow leather, has the embroidered inscription « Welcomes the World », a nod to the sign installed in 1973 on a wall on this street : « Carnaby Street Welcomes The World ». On the white tongue, there is black and red branding, and a tab is distinguished by its royal blue colour. To complete the design and the matching, the whole is based on a comfortable white sole with an Air unit contained in a candy-pink cage.
