As part of the KangaROOS brand’s « ROOS United » European exchange program, French sneaker and street culture enthusiast Selecta BISSO and German content creator Max Loewe teamed up to design a special Runaway ROOS 001 « Rainbow Trout ».
BISSO, the Guadeloupean-Toulousian by adoption, says he was inspired by the rainbow trout for several reasons. First of all, it’s a subject that unites France and Germany, his country of origin and that of his partner Max, respectively. Trout fishing is practiced as much in the French Pyrenees (close to Bisso’s town), as in the German region of Bavaria. Secondly, the rainbow trout is an eye-catching theme that gives multiple possibilities in terms of design, colors and materials. To bring this project to life digitally and adjust his choices, BISSO turned to his friends and partners at Attraction Agency, a creative agency in Toulouse.
Arrived in the course of the project, his German counterpart Max Loewe nevertheless immediately validated the ideas and the design imagined by Bisso.
Through this collaboration and this beautiful fish present in France and Germany, Selecta Bisso and Max Loewe wanted to highlight the notion of unity. The one that allows us to work together, without borders, with a single goal : to share our passion.
The KangaROOS Runaway ROOS 001 « Rainbow Trout » is handcrafted in Germany by the specialists at Hummel&Hummel using the highest quality materials. Limited to 400 pieces, it is numbered on the side heel.
The light brown perforated suede base is enhanced by orange-red overlays and a khaki green mudguard in smooth suede. To affirm the inspiration, the area around the ankle consists of black suede with purple highlights and has been worked to mimic fish scales. The heel, tongue tag and insole are adorned with the « Rainbow Trout » logo that was created by BISSO’s son, Alexandre, who is currently attending a video game trade school. The Kangaroo side logo appears in black, as do the perforated suede tongue and lower eyelets, adding a touch of flair to the pair. Great attention to detail is highlighted by contrasting stitching on the mudguard, an applied fish scale pattern on the inner mesh lining, graphic mismatched insoles and colorful lace aglets. The shoe features the legendary ‘little hidden pocket’ on the inside of the tongue and a light green heel clip. The whole is based on a white DYNACOIL technology midsole and a gum outsole that elegantly finalizes the look.
The pair comes with 3 sets of laces, white/red aglets, green/white aglets and red/green aglets, and in a custom box.
The SELECTA BISSO X MAX LOEWE X KANGAROOS Runaway ROOS 001 « RAINBOW TROUT » MiG will be released on September 25, 2021 in a limited quantity of 400 units at select retailers such as AFEW, 43einhalb, Allike, Asphaltgold, Hanon, Overkill or Titolo, as well as on kangaroos.com.
