Following the success of their first collaboration in September 2021, the French street culture enthusiast SELECTA BISSO and the German high-end sneaker brand kangaROOS unveil a new joint project : a Coil R1 « Trout II ». This Made in Germany pair is limited to 500 pieces worldwide.
Last year, the two partners (along with 3rd collaborator Max Loewe) offered a limited edition Runaway ROOS 001 uniting France and Germany, with a design inspired by the famous rainbow trout that can be fished in the French Pyrenees as well as in the German region of Bavaria.
For this 2nd opus based on the KangaROOS Coil R1 silhouette, BISSO stayed in its adopted French city, Toulouse, and opted for the theme of ‘Street Fishing’, the sporty and fun concept of urban fishing.
It’s on the banks of the Canal du Midi and with his fishing rod, in a setting of grey concrete buildings and orange bricks typical of the city of southwestern France, that BISSO found the inspiration for his « Trout II ».

In an eco-friendly approach, this pair is made of suede and genuine fish leather from a French tannery that produces fish leather using a 100% vegetable tanning process. No fish is killed for its skin. The parts of fish skin destined for destruction are recovered from the waste of the food industry to be upcycled.
The shoe sports a look that combines the aesthetics of trout and the world of the city. It also features pink/orange accents on the fish that evoke the brick walls of Toulouse, as well as green accents reminiscent of the shades of water.
Handcrafted in Germany by Hummel&Hummel from premium materials, this Coil R1 collaborative consists of a black fish skin upper with blue-green highlights. This base is complemented by overlays in shades of grey, smooth suede or perforated suede. To affirm the attention to detail, the sides of the sneaker are mismatched, one features a black skin fish base with a red overlay and a light grey Kangaroo logo, while the other opts for a red suede base enhanced with a black yoke on which rests the light grey Kangaroo logo. Other eye-catching details include a green heel clip that matches the shimmer of the upper, the « trout » logo on the heel, insole and tongue, which was created by BISSO’s son, Alexandre, for the first collaborative pair, the red inner lining with a fish scale pattern and the laces with contrasting aglets. The whole is based on a white midsole with DYNACOIL technology, associated with a gum outsole that asserts the retro-chic look of this collab.
The pair is delivered with 3 pairs of laces, inserted in an isothermal tote bag ideal to bring back the caught fish and in a personalized box.
