Last month, Hélas presented its Winter 2023 collection. This famous French label, founded in 2011 by skateboarders Lucas Puig, Clem Brunel and Steph Khou, is expanding its offering by teaming up with legendary American brand SCHOTT NYC.
Hélas delved into Schott NYC’s well-stocked archives to bring out an exceptional piece, the OG Americain version of the Aviator G1 jacket.
This reworked piece combines the heritage and savoir-faire of Schott NYC with the contemporary French style of the Hélas 90s. It appears as a symbol of urban fashion, contributing to the cultural importance of the brand.
The partners offer it in 3 colorways : classic black, nostalgic vintage brown and ‘very 2000’s’ navy blue.
In terms of design, the collaborative jacket opts for an oversized cut and slightly creased leather that take us back 30 years. Although very recent, this Hélas x Schott NYC Aviator G1 gives the impression of an antique piece steeped in history, with a strong heritage that can make you nostalgic.
Modernized, it features embossed details : the co-branding on the front of the chest and the ‘large umbrella’ Hélas’ logo on the back. To make a statement, this jacket features invisible snaps on the front pockets and metal trims. The collar can be embellished with 2 versions of removable fur, one matching the jacket and the other off-white. The jacket also includes a removable inner vest, which can be used on its own, featuring embroidery on the front and back.
To celebrate this collaboration, Hélas invited Malika, JB and Karl to pose for the elaborate lookbook at the Aérodrome de Chavenay, near Paris, in air force squadrons, in a nice nod to the cult film ‘Top Gun’.
The 3 SCHOTT NYC x HÉLAS HIVER 23 jackets have been available since December 13, 2023 on the website of French brand helascaps.com. The price is set at €450 per model.
