L’équipe espagnole de 24 Kilates s’est associée à la marque Américaine Saucony afin de nous proposer une nouvelle collaboration inspirée par le premier navire à faire le tour du monde: La Victoria.
La Victoria, caraque Espagnole commandée par l’explorateur Ferdinand Magellan et construite au Pays Basque, fût le premier bateau à boucler un tour du monde sur la fameuse route occidentale des épices.
Partie de Séville en 1519 sous le commandement de Magellan, ce dernier fût tué aux Philippines en 1521. C’est le capitaine Juan Sebastián Elcano qui ramena la Victoria à Sanlúcar de Barrameda en 1522, bouclant ainsi le premier tour du monde en 3 ans et 29 jours.
Pour la fabrication de cette Grid SD, l’équipe de 24 Kilates n’a utilisé que des matériaux haut de gamme. La paire se compose d’un upper en cuir brun clair contrastant avec des pièces marrons claires et des éléments en cuir perforé. On distingue une languette en Ripstop faisant référence aux voiles de bateaux.
Comme souvent avec 24 Kilates, on découvre un travail minutieux et précis sur les détails. On retrouve ainsi des coutures de renfort en zig-zag, des œillets en laiton sur le logo latéral et un crochet en laiton ajouté au système de laçage. Le logo de la couronne 24 Kilates est appliqué sur un tire-talon, et sur une étiquette au niveau de la languette. Un logo doré “La Victoria” est gravé au niveau du talon.
La Victoria, limitée à 500 exemplaires dans le monde, sortira le 11 octobre chez 24 Kilates à Barcelone et à Bangkok.

The Spanish 24 Kilates crew teamed up with the American brand Saucony to propose us a new collaboration inspired by the first ship to circumnavigate the world: La Victoria.
La Victoria, Spanish carrack ordered by the explorer Ferdinand Magellan and built in the Basque Country, was the first boat to complete a world tour on the famous western spices trade.
Launched from Seville in 1519 under the command of Magellan, the latter was killed in the Philippines in 1521. It was the captain Juan Sebastián Elcano who brought back the Victoria to Sanlúcar de Barrameda in 1522, thus completing the first round of the world in 3 years and 29 days in a boat.
For the manufacture of this Grid SD, the 24 Kilates team used only high-end materials. The pair consists of a light brown leather upper contrasting with brown pieces and perforated leather elements. There is a Ripstop tongue referring to the boat’s sails.
As often with 24 Kilates, we discover a meticulous and precise work on the details. Zig-zag reinforcement seams, brass eyelets on the side logo and a brass hook added to the lacing system. The 24 Kilates logo crown is applied on a heel puller, and on a label at the tongue. A golden logo “La Victoria” is engraved on the heel.
The Victoria, limited to 500 copies in the world, will be released on October 11 at 24 Kilates in Barcelona and Bangkok.
