Salomon OFFSITE x Clean My Calanques

The outdoor brand born in the French Alps, SALOMON, unveils a new program called OFFSITE that aims to raise awareness about respect and exploration of nature. The first event took place in Marseille in partnership with the local association Clean My Calanques.

For more than 70 years, SALOMON has been offering technical outdoor products that are renowned for their premium quality and innovation. In a few years, the French brand has also entered the city fashion scene thanks to the techwear trend. In addition to its products, SALOMON wants to share its vision of nature and outdoor activities. With the OFFSITE program, it promotes the discovery of natural spaces, those that are close to us, a few miles from home. The idea is to encourage people to reconnect with nature, to venture into new environments and perhaps discover new paths and passions.

Clean My Calanques is a Marseille-based non-profit organization created in 2017. Its co-founder and President, Eric Akopian, is a militant for the preservation of the environment and launches actions to clean up the calanques of his city. Known simply by word of mouth, the association has seen its popularity soar since last year thanks to the interventions of personalities of music, art and comedy. In only 4 years, Clean My Calanques has already removed 32 tons of waste from the coasts of Marseille.

For its first experience, Salomon’s OFFSITE joined Clean My Calanques on July 20, 2021. The goal was to gather different people to carry out an ultra efficient cleaning action, but also to share a strong, informative and fraternal moment. The day began with a waste collection along the beach, then participants were invited to a conference on fashion and the environment, delivered by Eric Akopian, the local rapper S.Téban, the artistic director Moriba Koné and the head of the fashion program of Salomon, Jean Philippe Lalonde. To close this special day, the rapper S.Téban gave a mini concert.

The Salomon OFFSITE x Clean My Calanques event gathered 100 guests who collected and sorted 350 kilos of waste in 1 day. Salomon has not yet announced when and where the next intervention will take place but we are keeping a close eye on it… Stay tuned !
