The talented designer Salehe Bembury continues to enjoy us by teasing his new projects on his Instagram account. While he just confirmed the release of his exclusive CROCS Classic Clog (article available HERE), the former Versace unveils a New Balance « Yurt » that could be the 4th collab with his solid Boston partner.
The founder of the brand SPUNGE first posted yesterday on Instagram story the tongue of a collaborative New Balance never seen before. It gave a pretty promising glimpse of the entire shoe. Today, Salehe Bembury gave us more details about this new upcoming collab by filming her steps during one of his traditional hikes.
Gone are the bold prints of the « Finders Keepers » or the bright orange and turquoise colors that have dressed the previous NB 2002R collaborative (articles available on this site) ! This shoe is dressed in a more understated and traditional color. It’s dressed in a dusty grey shade, probably a combination of a nod to the iconic color of New Balance with the inspiration of nature of the American designer.
It features a grey mesh upper with matching classic hairy suede overlays and others in a lighter shade close to white. Inspired and intended for outdoor activities, the shoe features a ripstop tongue for premium durability and comfort. The tongue tag features a NB « Yurt » branding that is still a mystery. The pair retains its iconic sideways N logo, which is silver-grey and probably reflective, and the Salehe Bembury branding is emblazoned on a white tag sewn under the ankle. The signature fingerprint logo of the famous designer could not yet be seen via posts, but it must appear on this shoe, as it’s the case on the heel of the NB 2002R. A thick white midsole and a solid grey lugged outsole complete the look.
It’s still too early to predict a release date for this new Salehe Bembury x New Balance « YURT ». But during a Q&A on Instagram, Salehe had revealed to be preparing an apparel collection with New Balance scheduled for Fall 2021. We are closely monitoring the personal account of the footwear designer and his brand SPUNGE … Stay tuned to not miss anything !
