During this year 2022, the talented American designer SALEHE BEMBURY continued to present us with attractive and innovative collabs. After having seduced the majority of sneakerheads, even the most resistant, with his famous CROCS Clogs remodeled, the former Versace designer finds the iconic New Balance brand to bring his touch to the 990v2 silhouette.
This new revamped sneaker is Salehe Bembury’s 5th global project with the Boston-based sports brand.
Named « Sand Be the Time », this 2022 collaborative runner appears to be the logical continuation of the 2 previous successful reinterpreted NB 2002Rs : the 2020 « Peace Be the Journey » and the 2021 « Water Be the Guide ».
Teased last June by the designer at Paris Fashion Week, this exclusive NB 990v2 gets a release date and is highlighted in a campaign produced by the Better Days agency and featuring the famous musician Thundercat.
The shoe features a color palette in shades of pink. It consists of a pastel pink honeycomb mesh upper with tonal suede overlays. The look is completed with grey reflective inserts on the toe box, as well as a purple chenille side N logo. This contrasting hue also stands out on the front of the toe box and on the « 990 made in USA » branding embroidered on the tongue. The pair features a cork insole with the light grey co-branding and the famous Salehe Bembury « fingerprint » logo applied in purple on the back of the heel. An orange ABZORB midsole and purple rubber outsole add the finishing touches to the design.
