For several months now, the famous Boston brand New Balance has been attracting the attention of personalities from the world of fashion and Haute-Couture. After Charaf Tajer and its highly coveted Casablanca x NB 327 or the STAUD brand (articles available on this site), the current Vice President of Footwear at Versace, Salehe BEMBURY, brings his touch to the NB 2002R silhouette. This first collaborative pair is named « Peace Be the Journey ».
The NB 2002R silhouette is in big part based on the aesthetics of the high-performance running shoe of 2010, the NB 2002. It has been updated and is part of the Fall/Winter 2020 collection. It combines the upper of the NB 2002 with the outsole of the 860v2.
This first collaboration between the designer of the luxury house Versace and the brand New Balance has been unveiled since August 2020, with no release date, making this shoe one of the most eagerly awaited on the market.
The sneaker adopts a design inspired by nature, the love of the outdoors and Salehe Bembury’s new passion for long and peaceful hikes.
The color palette refers to Antelope Canyon, one of the most famous and photographed gorges in the southwestern United States. The shoe features a yellow mesh upper with orange hairy suede overlays, and subtle burgundy smooth leather inserts on the toe box and under the ankle. A nice touch of contrast is provided by the soft light blue N logo on the side, a nod to the sky and the clouds. The sky blue color is also used to define the NB branding details on the orange aged leather tongue top and the name Salehe Bembury applied in relief on the laces holder. A pleasant cork insole with co-branding completes the design. The whole is based on a white speckled N-ERGY midsole combined with an outsole in the same colors as the upper : yellow, orange and burgundy.
The Salehe Bembury x New Balance 2002R « Peace Be the Journey » is scheduled for release on October 23, 2020, at selected retailers and on NewBalance.com, at a price of €150. Be ready !
