In terms of collaborative projects, the association between the Japanese fashion brand Sacai and the American giant Nike has become a sure thing. The two partners offer pairs with innovative designs that are highly prized by sneaker addicts. The latter are also eagerly awaiting the release of the new VaporWaffle silhouette, unveiled in the first colorways at Paris Fashion Week 2020. During the presentation of the Spring/Summer 2021 Sacai,clothing collection, this sneaker appeared in two additional colorways « Sesame » and « Black Iris ». Also, after adding her touch to Nike Blazer Mid, designer Chitose Abe presented her vision of the Blazer Low during this event, also in two colour options : « White/Orange » and « Grey/Green ».
The sneakers are adorned with Sacai’s signature game of duality. The strong elements of the shoe are doubled to create a unique, innovative design that is now recognizable at first glance.
The VaporWaffle consists of purple or sesame mesh upper, depending on the iteration, with suede overlays in a slightly more pronounced shade of colour. We find the dual brandings on the overlapping tongues and certainly on the heels, as well as the double laces, midnight blue and white for the purple pair, and white and beige for the sesame shoe. The double Swooshes bring a touch of different color, orange for the purple pair and ocean blue for the sesame iteration. This lblue colour is found on the middle part of the white midsole cut in 3 layers. On the dark iris pair, the midsole is totally white. The whole is based on a black waffle rubber outsole.
The Blazer Low is based on the design of the Blazer Mid presented previously. We find a grey or white leather upper with the laceguard, the upper overlay Swoosh and the laces, respectively green or orange, depending on the iteration. The grey/green pair has the lower Swoosh and the other set of laces in white colour. The same applies to the white/orange shoe, except that the second lateral Swoosh appears in bright yellow. The oversized double tongue add cachet to the silhouette. The whole is based on a totally white sole with finishes that continue the play of overlays.
The SACAI X NIKE VaporWaffle « Sesame » and « Dark Iris » & the SACAI X NIKE Blazer Low « White/Orange » and « Grey/Green » will be released during spring 2021. They will be available on Nike.com and at selected retailers. We will keep you informed of the next details, stay tuned…
