SACAI and NIKE unveil a new chapter in their successful partnership. After developing collaborative silhouettes that have become iconic over the past 2 years (several articles available on this site), Chitose Abe and his team participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the legendary Nike Cortez by reworking it in an exclusive style.
The famous sneaker of the 1972 Summer Olympics revisited combines tradition and modernity.
It’s presented in the « Forrest Gump » OG color block of white, red and blue and complemented by SACAI’s signature « double layer » design details. The white leather base features grey suede overlays and a red side Swoosh paired with a second grey Swoosh. Double laces, double branding and double tongues should also be there. The most striking transformation appears in the sole. Reworked in double layer off-white, blue and black, it has an Air unit on the forefoot that recalls the Air Zoom Type or Alphafly models.
The Sacai x Nike Cortez is expected to be released later this year at select retailers and on nike.com. A second colorway in shades of grey and blue also seems to be in the works…More info to come, stay tuned !
