Sacai x Jean Paul Gaultier x Nike

After the success of the collaboration between the Sacai brand and the American giant Nike (articles available on this site), the designer Chitose Abe is extending this partnership with the great French couturier Jean Paul Gaultier. A hybrid shoe inspired by previous collaborative projects is presented to us today.

A year ago, the famous French designer Jean Paul Gaultier announced a new concept for his haute couture house : to invite a designer each season to reinterpret traditional codes and give his own vision of know-how. Chitose Abe, the founder of the Sacai brand, should have inaugurated this alliance in March 2020, but the global health crisis has forced them to postpone this project until July 2021.

However, a shoe designed in triple collaboration was unveiled. This semi-high hybrid model, in black and white, uses the codes of the previous collaborations. It features a double design : double tongues, double Swoosh, and also benefits from the sole of the VaporWaffle divided into several layers. The sneaker consists of a black nylon upper with matching suede and leather overlays. On this base, we discover a line of exposed white stitching, in the style of a baseball glove, which adds a touch of exclusivity to the pair. Jean Paul Gaultier’s signature blue « marinières » stripes appear on the white insole, which also features the black triple brandings.

The Jean Paul Gaultier x Sacai x Nike is expected to be available in 2021 at selected retailers and on nike.com. We will keep you informed of the latest details, stay tuned !
