As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Superstar silhouette, the German giant adidas presented us, very logically earlier this year, an iteration paying homage to the legendary rap group Run DMC who brought this shoe to the rank of icon (article available HERE). A new version has been developed to honor the memory of the late DJ member of this Queens trio, Jam Master Jay.
This Superstar is adorned with an authentic and understated design. It consists of a black smooth leather upper with the emblematic 3 side stripes in white. The black color was also used to cover the iconic rubber shell on the toe box, tongue, lining and laces. An additional touch of contrast is provided by the white leather heel and the SUPERSTAR silhouette name stamped in white and framed in red on the quarter panel. To complete the tribute, the tongue branding is embellished with a black and white print depicting the face of Jam Master Jay. A black insole with the red DMC logo and a full black midsole and outsole complete the design.
The Run DMC x adidas Superstar « Jam Master Jay » will be available on October 30, 2020 at selected retailers and on adidas.com for around 120$.
