RUN DMC X ADIDAS SUPERSTAR “50th ANNIVERSARY”

During the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the famous Superstar silhouette, Adidas is about to release one of its cult versions : The Superstar Run Dmc. A historic model that has left its mark on the history of sneaker and lifestyle culture.

After a version released for the 25 years and then for the 35 years, it is now in 2020, for the 50 years of the Superstar, that the German brand Adidas takes us on a journey through the history of a silhouette that has marked all generations since the 80s.

Run-Dmc is a group of American Hip-Hop of the 80s from Queens. Composed of Rev Run (Joseph Simmons), Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell) and DMC (Darryl Mcdaniels), they quickly established themselves as essential Hip-Hop artists but also as precursors of streetwear fashion.

In 1986 the track “My Adidas” was released. They talk about their Adidas Superstar, which boosted Superstar sales. In concert, fans took off their shoes to brandish their Adidas, a gesture that became a symbol of protest from a generation that was totally at odds with its time. This sneaker became a social symbol but also an emblem of streetwear fashion.

This new version consists of a white leather upper on which the famous black Adidas stripes can be seen. The RUN DMC logo can be found on the tongue and insole. In addition, the word “Superstar” on the quarters panels is sandwiched between two red lines to pay homage to these legends of Hip-Hop.

The Adidas Superstar RUN DMC “50th Anniversary” is expected to be released in the coming weeks. Stay tuned…
