Reebok Pump Omni Zone II « Atlanta »

This year 2021 marks 30 years of the famous Reebok Pump Omni Zone II silhouette. To celebrate these 3 decades, it was re-released in its OG form in March and reinterpreted by designer Juun.J over the summer (articles available on this site). The legendary bball is presented to us today in a color scheme reminiscent of the retro Atlanta Hawks jerseys.

The Reebok Pump Omni Zone II was made famous by Dee Brown during the 1991 NBA Dunk Contest. The Boston Celtics rookie stole the spotlight from top-seeded Shawn Kemp by not only winning the Slam Dunk Championship, but also by showing off before his first shot. He took the time to inflate his shoes before his first « no look dunk ». The audience loved this staging and adopted the famous silhouette.

The version unveiled today is very reminiscent of the late 90’s Atlanta Hawks jersey, worn by talented Congolese-American basketball player Dikembe Mutombo. This jersey was available in black or white.

The bball takes the iconic colors of the NBA basketball team. It consists of a white leather upper with a black leather heel counter. This base is complemented by other black elements, such as the mesh on the midfoot, the top of the tongue where the orange inflation pump « The Pump » sits and on the ankle area. Iconic Hawks red accents are featured on the side overlays, inner lining and embroidered Reebok branding on the heel cup. Metallic gold accents complete the look. They are found in the form of a lightning bolt at the quarter panel and enhancing the back of the white and black midsole. The design is finalized with the iconic Reebok vector logo embroidered in black on the toe area and the HEXALITE shock absorbing cushioning technology name emblazoned on the back of the heel.

The Reebok Pump Omni Zone II « Atlanta » will be released soon at select retailers and on reebok.com, priced at 140$.
