REEBOK regularly partners with great and innovative streetwear brands to reimagine its cult silhouettes (various articles available on this site). Today, the British-born manufacturer is taking a step back in time to honor the art of Keith Haring. A collection celebrating the legacy of the late, great american artist has been unveiled. It revolves around 4 silhouettes : The Club C, Club C Legacy, Classic Leather Legacy and the GL 6000.
Keith Haring, who died in 1990, was an American designer, painter and sculptor. This artist left his mark on his era, and much more, with his contemporary style inspired by graffiti. Throughout his career, he put his art at the service of causes that were close to his heart. In particular, he has a humanitarian commitment against social and political concerns : racism, homophobia, social discrimination, apartheid, nuclear power…
The « Haring » label is the infinite repetition of synthetic forms highlighted by black with an association of bright and flashy colors on different media. Reebok pays tribute to the iconic works of the pop artist through its reinterpreted silhouettes. All pairs feature a tongue tag incorporating Keith Haring’s signature and iconic silhouettes with his usual logo. They also include a co-branded insole.
Monochromatic, the Club C is covered in a multitude of dancing silhouettes with black outlines. To highlight these Keith Haring signature characters, the rest of the construction including the inner lining, laces and sole, are presented in white.
The Club C Legacy features a red leather upper with white accents, such as eyelets, heel tab and side Reebok label. To ensure the Keith Haring reference, the square head of the smiling 3-eyed figure adorns the quarter panel. The shoe has a harmonious white sole.
The Classic Leather Legacy has a classic look with its white base enhanced by a grey overlay at the forefoot and blue accents at the side stripes and tongue. Red stitching completes the look, as do the colorful Keith Haring silhouettes on the heel tab. An inner lining and black spiked outsole finalize the design.
The GL 6000 is dressed in a bright green color with touches of yellow and red. Black laces and outsole, as well as white elements like the lining, tongue, heel clip, heel tab and midsole complete the look. The heel is adorned with an illustration of the famous American artist.
The Reebok « Keith Haring » collection will be released on October 22, 2021, at select retailers and on Reebok.com. Be ready !
