PUMA Suede VTG MiJ atmos « Skajan »

The japanese reference shop ATMOS continues to transcribe the heritage of the art and craft of its country through exclusive sneakers. It presents us a PUMA Suede VTG (Vintage) made in Japan and inspired by the « Sukajan » souvenir jackets.

For the record, this jacket called « Sukajan » was born in Yokosuka, Japan, a major site where a U.S. naval base was established. Shortly after the war, American soldiers ordered jackets with oriental motifs, such as dragons and tigers, as « souvenirs ». Gaining popularity, this piece became known worldwide and inspired street fashion.

Atmos pays tribute to this garment that is steeped in history and highlights the art of high-end Japanese embroidery. These designs exude an oriental yet rebellious vibe.

The PUMA Suede MiJ presented today consists of a combination of black suede and glossy black nylon upper, complemented by PUMA’s signature silver side stripe. The panels are adorned with embroidery depicting a menacing tiger on one side and a map of Japan and the famous Mount Fuji on the other. These meticulous designs pay homage to the Sukajan and allow this shoe to be incorporated into a wide variety of styles. To ensure the embroidery is highlighted, other elements such as the inner lining and laces appear in white and black respectively. A full white sole completes the look.

The PUMA Suede VTG MiJ atmos « Skajan » will be released on April 24, 2021 via a raffle starting Wednesday, April 21, 2021 on atmos-tokyo.com. The price is set at 200$ and sizerun US 5 to US 13.5.
