In April 2021, the Japanese reference shop ATMOS presented a collab with PUMA based on the Suede silhouette and inspired by the « Sukajan » souvenir jackets. The 2 partners unveil today a new version : the PUMA Suede MIJ atmos « SKAJAN 2.0 ».
For the record, the jacket called « Sukajan » was created in Yokosuka, Japan, a major site where an American naval base was established. Shortly after the war, American soldiers ordered jackets with oriental motifs, such as dragons and tigers, as « memories ». Gaining popularity, this piece became known around the world and served as inspiration for streetwear.
While the previous collaborative Suede used the tiger and bamboo grass for the design, this second version, ‘SKAJAN 2.0’ honors the eagle and cherry blossom, other Japanese emblems.
Like the 1st iteration, this new Made in Japan pair consists of a suede upper with shiny nylon side panels. These materials appear in royal blue color. On one side of the foot, we discover the white eagle and pink cherry blossoms embroidered along the silver PUMA side stripe, while the other side features the embroidery of the map of Japan and the famous Mount Fuji . To ensure the luxurious look, the inner lining is presented in smooth white leather and the insole is adorned with a yellow PUMA monogram. The pair also features traditional tongue branding and white laces. The whole is based on an all-white sole that provides the final harmonious touch.
The pair will come with a 2nd set of extra wide white laces, which can give it a ‘skateshoe’ look.
The PUMA Suede MIJ atmos « SKAJAN 2.0 » will be released on December 28, 2022 at a price of $166 (¥22,000) via an open raffle starting December 24, 2022 at the shop atmos-tokyo.com. Be ready !
