The famous Amsterdam shop PATTA regularly releases eye-catching collabs. After teaming up with the legendary brand Tommy Hilfiger last December, Edson Sabajo and Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt are back with another iconic brand, REEBOK, to redesign the famous Club C.
After offering us an all-white version at the end of 2020 and a 1st edition black iteration in June 2021, PATTA and REEBOK are surprising us with a re-release of the black colorway of their collaborative Club C.
The goal of this re-launch is to support organizations that are important to the Dutch store and give back to the community. A portion of the proceeds from this online launch will be split equally between The Black Archives in Amsterdam, Sistah Space in London and the Good Neighbourhood Collective in Milan.
To accompany this re-release, Patta recalls Reebok’s origins and influence on sportswear.
Now based in Boston, Massachusetts, REEBOK was founded in the UK in the late 1950s, and was one of the first companies to test out spiked shoes. Named after the Afrikaans word for a type of antelope, REEBOK was noticed at a shoe show in the US in the late 1970s, was acquired and distributed in the US, achieving over 1 million sales in 1 year. The brand quickly grew to become a fixture in the sportswear industry. It created the first athletic shoe, the Ex-Gym Hi, followed by iconic basketball and tennis silhouettes like the InstaPump and Club C.
Reimagined by PATTA, the iconic CLUB C 85 is dressed in black and consists of a soft, full-grain leather upper with perforations on the toe box to promote breathability. The traditional ‘Reebok’ and the Union Jack on the quarter panel have been replaced by the green PATTA branding and the red, black and green pan-African flag. To complete the look and affirm the collab, the PATTA ‘P’ logo is associated with the REEBOK branding on the tongue. The whole is based on an all-black sole that harmoniously finalizes the design.
