After a few teasings and the appearance of a new orange-brown Air Max 1 last month (article available HERE), the famous Amsterdam shop PATTA and the sportswear giant NIKE officialize their latest collaboration « The Next Wave ».
First unofficially called « Orange Blaze », this wavy AM1 is finally named « The Next Wave ». It will be released with an exclusive apparel collection. This new AM1 collaborarive follows the « The Wave » pack released last year, including the « Monarch », « Noise Aqua », « Rush Maroon » and « Black » versions that were released throughout 2021. The « The Next Wave » iteration features the classic Air Max 1 silhouette and the now iconic Wave Patta pattern of the collaboration. It consists of a mesh upper in metallic light grey, enhanced by brown leather overlays with orange « Dark Russett » highlights. The look is completed with a fuchsia inner lining, blue upper eyelets and tongue co-branding. An off-white midsole and black outsole assert the retro look of the pair.
« The Next Wave » is inspired by the African proverb « Each One Teach One » and Patta’s vision to create a connected and thriving community around the world. Therefore, in conjunction with the launch of this collaborative sneaker, the Dutch streetwear brand will host a two-day mentorship exchange, which will take place at Nike’s SHAPA Soweto Community Center in South Johannesburg.

To celebrate the release of the AM1 « The Next Wave », Patta and Nike released a campaign captured by American photographer Shaniqwa Jarvis. It features creatives like illustrator Aya Brown, New York-based grill maker Eddie Plein, South African DJ DBNGogo and South African entrepreneur Wireless G.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 « The Next Wave » will be released on August 12, 2022 at 1pm CEST, priced at $170, in Patta stores and online at nike.patta.nl, as well as on the SNKRS app in Europe and in the Thesis shop in Johannesburg. Be ready !
