Thanks to world-famous artists, and especially Travis Scott, the Nike SB Dunk silhouette has become hyper popular again. The collabs are multiple and extremely varied (various articles available on this site), and even unexpected as evidenced by the reinterpretation by the Japanese anime franchise GUNDAM. A collection « Project Unicorn » with 2 colorways of Nike SB Dunk High was unveiled.
This project follows the opening ceremony of the life-sized FREEDOM GUNDAM statue in Shanghai. It pays tribute to the robots RX-0 Unicorn and Banshee Norn Destroy Mode from the novel « Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn » which will celebrate its 15th anniversary in September.
These SB Dunk High represent each one of the 2 characters. They are adorned with colors and design elements that honor the particularities of these robots. These include yellow or gold Swooshes, which are removable and modified to match the look of Gundam’s V-Fin antennas. To ensure the homage and recall the appearance of these robots, a geometric print is applied on the toe box and collar. Each pair is adorned with a circular red unicorn logo on the heel counter.
The « RX-0 Unicorn » version is dressed in white leather with red outlines and stitching. The design is completed with a deep navy blue collar and eyelets. A white midsole combined with a navy blue outsole completes the look.
The « Banshee Norn Destroy Mode » iteration comes in darker colors. It consists of a black leather upper with metallic blue overlays with orange-bronze outlines. An all-black sole adds the finishing touch.
Both versions come with 2 sets of laces and are accompanied by a sticker plate honoring the collab theme.
