The equipment manufacturer Nike and BAIT Japan have joined forces to create an exclusive pack called « Hidden Message » composed of 3 silhouettes : the iconic Air Force 1 Low and Air Max 95, and the brand new Air Max 2090. This capsule collection was designed to celebrate the Tokyo Olympic Games, which were postponed to the summer of 2021 due to the global health crisis.
The 3 pairs have a similar colour palette, with different shades of colour depending on the model. Black and white are combined with bright colours : yellow, red, green and blue, a nod to the Olympic rings. The special feature of this pack is the « hidden details » that refer to the Olympic medals. For example, each silhouette has wear layers that can be removed, revealing bronze, silver or gold-coloured undercoats.
The Air Force 1 Low takes back the « Olympic » colour scheme introduced in 2004. It consists of a multicoloured leather upper. We find metallic silver leather on the front of the foot and the side Swoosh, then black in the centre, red or green on each rear side and yellow on the heel. To harmonize the design, the tongue and laceguard are black. Nike branding appears in gold on the white tongue label and in black on the heel tab. The blue inner lining, along with white laces embellished with red aglets and gold dubrae, complete the Olympic look. The whole is based on a white midsole and a black outsole.
The Air Max 95 is dressed in every colour of the Olympic rings on its overlays up to the black tongue. The partially reflective laces eyelets are also dressed in these typical colours, ensuring the harmony of the design. In this model, the underlayers in the colours of the Olympic medals are placed differently on each pair, making each iteration unique. The white toe and black heel, featuring Nike Air branding, assert the look. The whole is based on a white midsole featuring transparent Air units and a black outsole.
The Air Max 2090 is dressed in modern semi-translucent TPE material that allows you to guess certain elements in the bronze, silver and gold medal colors. This elegant sneaker is predominantly black with a red laceguard, blue lace eyelets, green collar and yellow inner lining. The Olympic touch is affirmed by the tongue branding, the side Swoosh and the Air marking on the heel counter, appearing in gold and bronze. The black laces and heel strap complete the neat, futuristic look. The whole is based on a two-tone white and black sole.
The BAIT Japan x Nike pack « Hidden Message » will be released on August 29, 2020, exclusively on the BAIT Japan website and in the shops of Shibuya and Parco. Wider distribution is expected to take place afterwards at selected retailers around the world. The announced prices are 110€, 150€ and 180€ depending of the silhouette.
