During this summer 2022, the famous German boutique OVERKILL and PUMA brand came together around a pack of XS 7000 and Mirage OG, introduced as the sequel to their « Pfeffiboys » collection released in 2017. The 2 partners continue their collaborative momentum and unveil an exclusive duo of Blaze of Glory and Slipstream Lo « Ocean Drive ».
This new opus pays tribute to a cult TV series of the 80s : Miami Vice.
This innovative American production marked its time and influenced the following series on several levels, as much in the police plots as in the editing and the fashion style of the protagonists’ outfits. The two cops, Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs, were cool, with their daring haircuts in the air and their innovative and stylish pastel outfits.
Marc Leuschner, the CEO of the Berlin-based shop, confided in an Instagram post that this series was one of his favorites in his youth.
Dressed in blue, pink and white, the « Ocean Drive » sneaker duo honors the 80s and the particularly colorful style of Miami Vice.
The BLAZE OF GLORY gets into the thick of things with its upper combining shiny nylon, fine striped mesh and smooth leather in a pastel blue hue. Pink accents on the side panels and insole complete the look. The pair is adorned with evocative details, such as a palm tree print on the side heel, a custom insole and a bold co-branded tongue tag. An embossed gold logo on the heel tab and OVERKILL branding applied in pink on the white back of the midsole confirm the collab. The midsole is mostly white but has a speckled touch and pink inserts to ensure the design. The whole is based on a pastel blue and black outsole.
The SLIPSTREAM LO is more discreet. It consists of a white premium leather upper, enhanced by a pastel blue suede side stripe with pink outlines. To make a style statement, the inner lining appears in pink and special blue, pink and gold co-brandings, echoing the « Miami Vice » aesthetic, adorn the heels. Pink logos on the white tabs and a vintage off-white sole add the final harmonious touch to the design.
Each pair will come with extra sets of laces, an assortment of co-branded dubraes and housed in a specially designed box.
The OVERKILL x PUMA Blaze of Glory and Slipstream Lo « Ocean Drive » will be released on September 18, 2022 in stores and online at overkillshop.com. A special event will take place from 3pm to midnight at Haubenaucher, Revaler Str. 99, 10245 Berlin, with dress code : Miami Vice of course, enjoy !
