A few weeks ago, I told you in an article (available HERE) about the latest collaboration between the Berlin-based shop Overkill and the sports brand Adidas. An exceptional creative project giving birth to a new hybrid silhouette ZX8500 mixing two emblematic silhouettes of Adidas : The ZX9000 and the ZX8000.
Having been lucky enough to receive one of the 125 « Friends and Family » boxes with this new silhouette, I suggest you to discover it in pictures at my feet.
The name « OVERKILL » is representative of the variety of colors and materials and many other details adorning the sneaker. This collaborative pair also honors the color palette of the legendary Montana Gold graffiti bombs. It’s dressed in a bold and cheerful color combination of neon pink, purple, orange, blue and neon yellow. The shoe features a striped mesh upper, complemented by suede overlays and small 3M elements reminiscent of the Berlin Chrome Bomber. This design is complemented by numerous details, such as the OVERKILL Quote hybrid logo and the « Flammable » branding on the heel and laces. The toe box and the gray mudguard depicting the slab construction of the city of Berlin, together with the OVERKILL branding embroidered in black in a grid style. This particular black pattern also appears on the yellow laces (3 additional sets are included with the pair and different laces). The brandings have been reworked to offer a special Trefoil and « OK » logo, which can be found on the red tongue tags and heels. This co-branding also adorns the neon green Torsion bar visible under the outsole. The green stripe on the midsole panels, meanwhile, is a nod to the wire fences that graffiti artists must cross to engage in their streetart. A white midsole and a black outsole complete the look.
OVERKILL thought of every detail to make the tribute to graffiti artists complete. An « OK » tag on the shoe was designed to keep the sneakers clean during graffiti sessions. No more paint stains on your favorite pair and no more damning evidence during police checks…
What about this project and this special box ? I had the honor of receiving a product of exceptional quality, created from a real concept. Once you hold the product in your hand, you realize the quality of the materials, the finishing touches and the soul of Overkill. I could talk about it for hours, but I’ll stop here and tell you that I think it’s essential to have this type of product in a collection of sneakerheads.
