Everyone knows that talented designer Ronnie Fieg is full of ideas and creativity. For himself and his label KITH, but also for brands he particularly likes, like the legendary Clarks Originals. The New York designer has announced a partnership with the British imprint, which will be based on the launch of a new category of shoes. The first collection in this category is named « 8th St. » and will introduce two silhouettes including the LOCKHILL.
Clarks is one of Ronnie Fieg’s favorite brands of all time. The former college kid wearing Wallabees will now be creating new products for the British brand, including the first collection named « 8th St. »
On his Instagram account, Ronnie Fieg revealed the process that led him to partner with Clarks Originals to bring his touch to product design and develop a new category of shoes.
For him, there is a gap in the British brand’s catalog that he wants to fill by launching new silhouettes that fall between « brown shoes and athletic footwear ». Ronnie Fieg is looking to offer luxury pieces to a special consumer. An idea he had already implemented in 2016 through a small space called « World of Niché » but had to close to stay focused on KITH which was growing. The designer finds in the Clarks brand the design qualities that are dear to him : beautiful materials and attention to detail. With his new category of shoes, he will combine his world and that of Clarks, their designs and craftsmanship. Beautiful silhouettes to come…
The first one was previewed by Ronnie Fieg. It’s called LOCKHILL and will be one of two in the « 8th St. » collection.
The shoe adopts an aesthetic that mixes Clarks heritage with a sporty look. It recalls the Torrun silhouette of the British brand. The beige base is enhanced by forest green suede overlays on the lower foot and red on the upper. On the midfoot, the beige overlay features the KITH « seal » and the traditional hang tag slipped into the white laces combines Clarks and FIEG brandings. The whole is based on the iconic crepe sole.
The Ronnie Fieg x Clarks Originals footwear category will launch in April 2021 with the inaugural « 8th St. » collection. Two silhouettes will be available, including the LOCKHILL. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the latest updates, stay tuned !
