Nonnative x Asics GEL-YETI Tokyo Hi G-TX « Clay »

The famous Japanese label Nonnative continues to reinvent shoes for outdoor sports and activities. After partnering with the American brand New Balance in November (article available HERE), Nonnative joins its compatriots from Asics to re-imagine once again the GEL-YETI Tokyo Hi G-TX silhouette.

This shoe was introduced in 2000 as a recovery model for tired trail runners. In 2003 it was redesigned with a casual look and in 2008 Nonnative gave it a military inspired hiking boot look. Two years later, the Japanese workwear label offers us a modernized and improved version of this Asics GEL-YETI Tokyo Hi G-TEX « Clay ». It comes in 2 colorways : black and beige.

This boot-style shoe features a virtually seamless upper in ultra premium GORE-TEX suede, breathable and waterproof. It features a revised lacing configuration with additional metal eyelets on the sides of the boot, a nod to hiking boots. In order to combine styles, this iteration has no drawstring, the round laces wrap around the ankle like traditional combat boots. Asics and GORE-TEX brandings are engraved on the tongue, and the Nonnative logo appears on the side heel. To add an extra touch of elegance to this harmonious design, the inner lining is in the same color as the upper. The whole is based on a thick sole with non-slip studs in the same color as the upper, thus finalizing the look.

The Nonnative x Asics GEL-YETI Tokyo Hi G-TX « Clay » in 2 colorways will be released on December 19, 2020 on the asics.comwebsite and at selected retailers such as END., Dover Street Market and Livestock, for a price around 200€ per iteration.
