As usual, the American giant Nike is active on several fronts to satisfy its very large community. A few days after the Air Max Day 2022 which greatly participated in the celebration of the 35 years of the iconic AM1 (several articles available on this site), the Swoosh brand unveils the return of the famous Terminator « Georgetown ».
This classic model was originally introduced in 1985, in connection with the success of the college hoop campaign « Be True To your School ».
It’s during this event that some major universities received their first Nike Dunks in the colors of their teams to participate in the tournament. The Hoyas, coached by John Thompson who was a consultant at Nike, distinguished themselves with their own signature sneaker, the Terminator High.
With an aesthetic similar to the Dunk, the Terminator looked unique and became emblematic because of its difference. The Hoyas were considered privileged, above and beyond the other teams in the county.
After an 8 year absence, the famous silhouette is coming back for 2022. This version is expected to strongly resemble the OG model.
It consists of an upper combining suede and leather, with a nylon tongue. The grey base is complemented by navy overlays and side Swoosh. To ensure the look, the heel is adorned with an oversized branding also navy, NIKE or HOYAS, information is not yet sure about this. The retro style is provided by a yellowed midsole associated with a navy blue outsole.
