The SB division of Nike continues to demonstrate its high productivity and its desire to reinvent itself. The Nike SB Bruin, a pair of skateboarding enthusiasts’ inseparable pair, is presented to us with a React technology and in a “Blue Flame” colorway.

In 2015, Nike reissued a model that became popular after its appearance at the feet of the legendary Marty Mc Fly in the inevitable film trilogy « Back to the Future ». Of course, we think of the exceptional Nike Air Mag with automatic lacing, but this time, it’s about a pair released in 1972, more classic and much more accessible : the NIKE BRUIN LEATHER. This silhouette was quickly adopted by skateboarders and was logically transformed by the SB section of the American firm. This renowned NIKE SB BRUIN model aims to remain at the forefront of innovation. In order to optimize the performance of this skate shoe, versions with Zoom and Hyperfeel technology soles have been marketed. Also, in order to increase the durability of the upper and in a responsible desire, new resistant coatings have been applied to replace the original leather. Recently, in January 2020, this model inspired a collaboration with skateboarder-retailer Gino Iannucci and his brand Poets, this iteration was based on a sole with React technology.
According to the photos published on the instagram account of @solebyjc , the Nike SB Bruin React « Blue Flame » combines a neat design with high performance technology.
The shoe is mainly in indigo blue. The upper combines several materials to ensure comfort and durability of the pair. A denim look is created by ripstop constructions on the back of the foot and on the tongue. While the front of the foot and the laceguard have a velvet-like texture made of suede for easy perception of the board, because as the professional skateboarder nicknamed Carboy said « in our discipline, our feet are our hands ». The heel tab appears in light blue leather with Nike branding in white. We find a classic tone-on-tone swoosh on the side of the shoe, on which the white outline of an oversized swoosh running all the way down to the sole is affixed. This design is reminiscent of the recent disproportionate apple green swoosh present on the iteration created in partnership with Poets. To finish with the white colour, a mini swoosh can be seen on the side of the tongue. As another colourful touch, it seems that the inside of the tongue is yellow and the insole green. The whole is based on an indigo sole with React technology, chosen for its « instant go » reactive foam that combines lightness, resistance, cushioning and flexibility.
The NIKE SB BRUIN REACT « BLUE FLAME » is announced for the coming weeks, before the beginning of summer. No exact date has yet been confirmed. It should be available in some skateshops and probably on Nike.com. More info to be confirmed, stay tuned…
