NIKE SB BLAZER MID « SHASIKO »

NIKE SB division has no shortage of imagination to make these projects incomparable. The designers continue to offer us shoes that are all more audacious and original one than the other. An upcoming collection is unveiled, it’s conceived with a design inspired by Japanese culture, and more particularly by an ancient style of sewing : Shasiko. Today, a Nike SB Blazer Mid « Shasiko » sesame colorway is presented to us.

More than 400 years ago, during the Edo period, this technique called Shasiko was used by rural populations to patch and reinforce their clothes, as it was difficult to obtain new ones. Since the 20th century, this ancestral way of doing things has been developed and is now part of the precious Japanese handicraft heritage.

This shoe is reminiscent of the collaboration with Travis Scott on the Nike SB Dunk Low, with its exaggerated stitching and patchword-style overlays. The colours used also refer to those of this highly coveted iteration released earlier this year.

We find a sesame-beige canvas upper with matching suede inserts on the toe box and laceguard. The side swoosh and overlays on the mudguard and heel appear in navy blue denim, embellished with white « Shasiko » stitching in a zigzag or cross pattern. To complete the look, the laces and inner lining are sesame beige, and the tongue branding is blue. The whole is based on a white vulcanized sole.

The Nike SB Blazer Mid « Shasiko » in sesame colorway is expected to be released in the summer 2020, probably in August, at selected retailers and on Nike.com, for an approximate price of 100€.

It should be noted that an iteration in navy blue should arrive soon. Also, this pack would be composed of other SB silhouettes such as the Dunk Low and the Zoom Janoski. More info coming soon, stay tuned !
