In addition to reissuing old cult models, such as the LeBron 2 « Maccabi » of 2004 or the LeBron 3 of 2005, the Swoosh brand officializes the imminent release of the latest signature shoe of the NBA star : the LeBron XX. This new silhouette celebrates the 20 years of the collaboration between LeBron James and Nike, as well as the 20 years of the basketball player’s NBA career.
The pair has already been seen on the feet of Lebron James’ sons, Bronny and Bryce. Imagined to celebrate the career of the player, it was also designed with the expectations of young players, the next generation. The LeBron XX is captioned : « From the King to the next generation ».
Jason Petrie, designer of the pair and lead designer of the NIKE LeBron line explained : « We took this line seriously when designing the shoe. We had players like LeBron’s sons Bronny and Bryce in mind. We wanted to get inside their heads and find out what young players were looking for. We envisioned the XX as a chance to celebrate LeBron’s next 20 years. »
The LeBron XX is the 1st shoe in LeBron’s performance line to be a low-top. It’s also the lightest ever designed.
The special weave of the upper increases breathability, allows for improved comfort and flexibility of movement. In terms of design, we discover a double side Swoosh and graphic details on the side guard that reference particular moments in the career of LeBron James, as well as special inscriptions on the insole and the inside of the tongue. The tributes to the NBA star’s career aren’t just visual. This new shoe features some of the most beloved features of LeBron’s signature line, such as the soft, breathable collar lining with Nike Sphere technology and the midfoot carbon fiber upper that returns for the first time since the Zoom LeBron 5. The pair also benefits from 2 Zoom Air units, one in the forefoot, the other under the heel, to provide high quality energy return and cushioning. The Dunkman, last seen on the LeBron 16, returns to the multi-directional, soil-gripping outsole.
Introduced in a « Time Machine » colorway, this new silhouette is dressed in pastel, green, pink with a touch of orange.
The Nike LeBron XX « Time Machine » will be released on September 29, 2022 for a price of $200, in adult and child sizes, at selected retailers and on nike.com. Other colorways will be released later.
