NIKE DUNK LOW x COMME DES GARCONS

The fashion brand founded by the Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, Comme Des Garçons, has a desire to think outside the box and continually strives to create, imagine and innovate. After the presentation of its vision of the Air Force 1 Mid, all in overlays, and in anticipation of the release of its collaboration with Asics on the Gel Lyte 3 in a colored-camo colorway, CDG offers us a shoe duo created once again in partnership with the American giant Nike.

As a logical follow-up to the last collaboration on the Dunk High silhouette dating from 2017, the Comme Des Garçons teams have expressed themselves on the Nike Dunk Low.

Indeed, this collaborative pack is composed of two pairs of shoes using the transparency codes used on the Dunk High released 3 years ago.

But this time, to bring the semi-translucent effect to the model, the material chosen to cover the upper is Nexkin. This stretchy, lightweight, foot-friendly fabric has become familiar since its use on the Vaporfly SP and the famous React Element 87.

One pair features the CDG monogram print on a black base, while the other, unprinted, looks more classic with a base ranging from beige to black to khaki.

On these two pairs with a sober and elegant style, we find black elements to assert this design : the swoosh on the side of the shoe, the tongue and its branding label, the lining and the thin ankle collar that goes down carefully over the laces and lasty the laces.

To add a contrast of material and an extra touch of originality, the heel tab appears covered with a wide black leather insert with stitching highlighting the Nike branding.

The whole is based on a black midsole combined with an outsole in the same colour.

The collaborative pack COMME DES GARCONS x NIKE DUNK LOW initially seen at the Women’s Spring/Summer 2020 fashion show, will be available in women’s and also men’s sizes on Thursday May 14, 2020 in CDG boutiques and Dove Street Market exclusively, before a wider release at selected retailers.

Sizerun US3.5 to US12.5 for a price of 250€ each colorway.
