The emblematic sportswear brand NIKE uses its notoriety to put forward causes that are close to its heart. After having committed itself to an environmental approach of sustainable development (several articles available on this site), it unveils today a collection named « Peace, Love, Swoosh » dedicated to the hope of world peace and love for all.
The Beaverton giant has demonstrated for several years that it’s not just a sports and fashion brand. It seeks, for example, to represent all athletes, able-bodied and disabled, and to help underprivileged youth gain a place in society.
This « Peace, Love, Swoosh » collection hijacks the legendary universal message of love, to match Nike’s iconic silhouettes. To date, the capsule consists of 3 models : an Air Huarache, an Air More Uptempo and an Air Force 1 Low. These three special pairs feature the same color palette but with different dosages. They are all adorned with the Peace, Heart and Swoosh symbols in bright and cheerful colors.
The Air Huarache has a mismatched look. It consists of a neoprene base, black on the front, and turquoise or purple on the back depending on the foot. The overlays appear in white leather and the back straps are presented in volt or semi-translucent orange. The signature « Peace, Love, Swoosh » symbols are found on the black side cage, as a circular tongue branding and affixed to the white insole. A white midsole and black outsole finalize the design.
The Air Uptempo features a perforated white leather upper with colorful illustrations of the « Peace, Love, Swoosh » motifs on the iconic « AIR » side overlays. These symbols also adorn the white tongue tag and insole. The look is completed with a bold red Swoosh embroidered on the toe box and embossed on the back of the heel. The whole is based on a white midsole with red-tinted « Air » units under the heel and a white insole.
The Air Force 1 Low has the most understated look of the line. It consists of a smooth white leather upper with tonal overlays and a matching textured leather side Swoosh. Contrasting elements appear on the back of the foot. Colorful « Peace, Love, Swoosh » motifs are embroidered on the heel counter, and the heel tab and inner lining are featured in black. The look is elevated by a colorful, graphic tongue tag, and a multicolored insole adorned with Nike branding and symbols from this collection. A white sole with the word « AIR » in black color adds the finishing touch.
The Nike « Peace, Love, Swoosh » collection is expected to be released soon at select retailers and on nike.com. So far, only GS sizes have surfaced, but adult pairs should also be offered, as well as new reinterpreted silhouettes… To not miss anything, stay tuned !
