Nike Air Max Zoom 2095 NRG

The American giant Nike has recently reinvented its Air Max 90 by designing the Air Max 2090 (articles available on this site) and seems to continue on this dynamic. Indeed, this year 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic Air Max 95 but will also correspond to the introduction of a modernised version of this silhouette : the Air Max Zoom 950. The talented designer/director of the Japanese brand Atmos, Koji, has teased on his Instagram account the first colorway of this Nike Air Max Zoom 950 which will be available exclusively in Japan.

Koji and Nike have had close ties for two decades. The two strong partners have presented us with emblematic collaborations and exclusive pairs. In fact, the legendary Air Max 95 has always been a great success in the land of the rising sun. This first version of Air Max Zoom 950 pays tribute to the sneaker culture in Japan by taking inspiration from this country.

The shoe consists of a light and breathable monomesh upper with a neoprene lining in a gradation of colours ranging from white to black and grey, providing optimum comfort. We discover an improved black tongue with a tab along the entire length, on which the name of the model is subtly glued, also a deep grey overlay on the toe. The Japanese inspiration can be found on the black heel adorned with the national flag and the small red heel counter Swoosh. The neon green inner lining and the reworked lacing system add cachet to the pair. The Kushuron foam midsole provides maximum cushioning. To complete the design and innovation, the whole is based on an Air Max 270 sole with two neon green Zoom Air units in the forefoot and one Air 270 unit in the heel, a nod to the thick midsole of the Air Max 95 but with the addition of new technologies.

This first colorway of the Nike Air Zoom 950 NRG Japan exclusive will be released via a draw on the atmos-tokyo.com website, which will be open for registration from Saturday, August 15 to Tuesday, August 18, 2020, for a price of around 180€. The pair will have a wider launch in Japan from August 19, 2020. Thereafter, the next colorways will be available worldwide.
