The Air Max Day 2021 promises us some nice surprises. In addition to the return of the Air Max 90 « Bacon » and the collab CLOT x Air Max 1 (articles available on this site), the giant of Beaverton unveils a new silhouette linking the fundamental era of Nike with modern techniques : the Air Max Pre-Day.
The name of this new model is inspired by the American athlete specialist in long-distance running and middle distance tragically died at the age of 24, Steve Prefontaine.
The new shoe features a simplified design that fuses classic Nike elements from the late 1970s with the technical innovations and improved materials of our decade. It references the legendary Daybreak runner, while featuring the latest Air Manufacturing (Air MI) innovation.
This silhouette honors generations of innovation and is also part of the American giant’s current project : waste reduction and sustainability.
It consists of a 100% recycled polyester upper, here in lemon yellow, complemented by light green synthetic suede overlays. Touches of black at the side Swoosh, inner lining and outsole made of approximately 13% Nike Grind rubber, add flair to the pair. The centerpiece of this silhouette is the new Air unit. It’s the same type used in the AM1, AM90, AJ 3, 4, 5 and 6, but is fully exposed between the midsole and outsole. This articulation of the Air unit provides a new feel underfoot and allows for a more pronounced rebound with each stride due to the reduced number of layers between the foot and the Air unit. The latter is placed between two hard surfaces.
The Nike Air Max Pre-Day will be launched in this first colorway on Air Max Day 2021, which will take place on March 26, 2021. It will be released on nike.com and at selected retailers at a price of 130$. Get ready for it !
