NIKE AIR MAX 1 X HERBBY X NIKE BY YOU “CULTURE & DIVERSITY”

Almost a year ago now, I told you in an article (available HERE) about the first creative project of the French designer and content creator Herbby, realized in collaboration with the American giant Nike. It’s through the Nike By You program that Herbby let his imagination run free to present us his Air Max 1 placed under the sign of « Culture and Diversity ».

I suggest you to discover this AM1 x Herbby « Culture & Diversity » on my feet.

The pair consists of an upper mixing suede and mesh through nylon. About the colors, Herbby told me : « The red, yellow and green colors symbolize the cultural diversity of Paris. They are inspired by the traditional fabric of the French West Indies, called « madras ». The yellow color also recalls the federating logo of the future Olympic and Paralympic Games of Paris 2024… ». We find the words « Her » on the left heel and « His » on the right heel, which represent for Herbby « the unity between genders, communities, suburbs and Grand Paris ». The whole is based on a white midsole and a red outsole.

Apart from the fact that Herbby is a friend of mine and it seemed important to me to give strength to a French project made with the American Nike, I find, in all objectivity, the pair successful in terms of design and concept. Indeed, the red, yellow and green colors immediately resonated with me as a West Indian used to the colors of madras, reggae and sun. As soon as I saw it, I immediately thought « West-Indies ». So I validate in 100% this project.
