As part of the Air Max Day 2022, the American giant NIKE presented us 3 exclusive regional AM1s. In addition to the « City of Light » version for Europe, the « Wabi-Sabi » for Asia Pacific and Latin America and the North American « Blue Print » (articles available on this site), the Swoosh brand unveils a « Woof » exclusive to China.
Although it may not be obvious at first glance, this special AM1 is inspired by man’s best friend, the dog.
It sports an asymmetrical look and consists of an off-white leather base complemented by beige or old rose leather overlays. On the side panels, this overlay is adorned with a furry look to refer to the dog. The theme is affirmed by a thick white faux fur tongue, brown bone-shaped top eyelets and a grass print covered insole. The mudguard adds an extra touch of color and aesthetics with its pink/red hue, as well as white polka dot pattern on the toe and star/cross pattern on the heel. The two-tone tongue tag is adorned with Nike Air Max branding paired with the Chinese symbol « Wang » translating to Woof, the dog’s bark and name of this pair. To confirm the exclusivity of this version, the date of the Air Max Day, 3.26, is affixed in white on the right foot insole. The look is completed by the addition of a tongue puller and by a light green inner lining matching the Air heel unit. The whole is based on a white midsole paired with a two-tone beige/old pink outsole.
The pair comes in a special box featuring the mudguard and insole design, and with a matching bandana and nameplate.
The release of the Nike Air Max 1 « Woof » is announced for March 26, 2022, exclusively in China and priced at 160$. It should arrive very quickly on marketplaces like KLEKT.
