A few hours before the Air Max Day 2022 and as part of the celebrations of the 35 years anniversary of the iconic Air Max 1, the American giant NIKE unveils a new AM1. While 3 regional exclusives for the 3/26 have already been presented (articles available on this site), a version « Safari » has just surfaced.
This pair features a design strongly reminiscent of the legendary collaboration also named SAFARI, designed with the Japanese reference shop ATMOS. First released in 2002, this exclusive pair had been a huge success and then was re-released in 2016 with a few small changes.
The Air Max 1 « Safari » appeared today consists of an upper combining suede and high-end leather in brown tones. To affirm the look and inspiration, this base is enhanced by a mudguard and collar covered in a brown and black Safari print. Light blue accents on the snakeskin side Swoosh, tongue branding and insole add character to the pair. A brown nylon tongue, yellowed laces and a black Swoosh emblazoned on the heel complete the design. The whole is based on a beige midsole and a light brown outsole.
