The American giant Nike unveils a brand new Air Force 1 paying tribute to one of the greatest cradles of British culture, Manchester. This shoe is inspired by the symbol of this hyper-active city, the bee. The Air Force 1 “Manchester Bee” is adorned with a neat and elegant design.
For over 150 years, the bee has symbolized the sense of unity among the people of Manchester, the ethic of hard work and mutual support that exists in this community. The typical functioning of the city of Manchester is reminiscent of the hive system and worker bees.
The shoe consists of an upper combining leather and suede in a bright beige color. The emblematic Swoosh side appears in very dark brown leather almost black, bringing a nice touch of contrast and recalling the stripes of the bee’s body. Also, a bee can be distinguished in fine embroidery on one side of the heel. To affirm the design, on the other side of the heel, we discover delicate engraved details referring to the honeycomb of beehives. To complete the homage, the white honeycombed mesh tongue has a small label with the number “0161”, corresponding to the Manchester area code. The beige leather insole, the Nike Air logo engraved on the heel, off-white laces and white inner lining complete the elegant look of the shoe. The whole is based on a white midsole combined with a grey outsole.
The Nike Air Force 1 “Manchester Bee” is expected to be released this fall 2020 at selected retailers and on Nike.com for a suggested retail price of 110€. More details coming soon, stay tuned…
