Unveiled at the end of October 2020, the re-issue of the Nike Air Force 1 CO.JP Daruma « I Believe » of 2002 will indeed take place in 2021 (article available HERE). Almost twenty years after its initial release, this Japan-limited AF 1 will be the first product of 2021 available at the leading Japanese retailer, ATMOS. To celebrate this event and the New Year, the ATMOS team invites us to join them on a special web page.
The Air Force 1 Low Daruma « I Believe » is a Japanese exclusive released in 2002 to commemorate the Japan-Korea Football World Cup.
At first glance, the 2021 iteration seems to take over the original design of this model. However, a nice touch of modernity is added : the white layer covering the vamp can be removed to reveal red, black and gold patterns referring to the Japanese lucky doll Daruma. We find the red circular Daruma logo and the inscription « I Believe » on the side heel and on the insole. To complete the look, the yellowed outsole in semi-translucent rubber is replaced by an elegant icy version.
For ATMOS, in addition to the concept and colorway, the new AJ 1 Low « I Believe » is the perfect pair to celebrate the New Year. Being the first product to come out in 2021, the Japanese brand invites us to join it on a special web page, set up on December 30, 2020, with the aim of collecting everyone’s wishes and aspirations in terms of sneakers. We can express our choices, our desires and imagine our ultimate goal via a digital painting. Three emerging artists : Okato, Reina Koyano and Dai Tamura each offer us an original work using Ema’s unique culture that has existed since Antiquity in Japan and inspired by the new Air Force 1 Low Daruma « I Believe ». ATMOS suggests us to choose among these 3 types of Ema updated by each artist and to write our wish on it, download it and publish it on the « Digital Picture » and our social networks.
