[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]A few months ago, I told you in an article (available HERE) about the return of the famous Nike Air Force 1 Daruma « I Believe ». An exclusive sneaker only available in Japan. Having had the chance to receive it, I suggest you to discover it in pics at my feet.
This initially white shoe with a crosshatched pattern was designed in 2002 to commemorate the FIFA World Cup. Its name « I Believe » comes from the fans’ cherring for their national team. The traditional Japanese doll « Daruma » was placed on the heel to bring luck and victory.
At first glance, the 2021 iteration seems to take over the original design of this model. However, a nice touch of modernity is added : the white layer covering the vamp can be removed to reveal red, black and gold patterns referring to the Japanese Lucky doll Daruma. We find the red circular Daruma logo and the inscription « I Believe » on the side heel and on the insole. To complete the look, the yellowed outsole in semi-translucent rubber is replaced by an elegant icy version.
Being a fan of the original version released in 2002 and not having been able to get it, I had to do everything I could to recover the little jewel with beautiful artistic patterns. For me, this is indeed an essential pair in a collection.
A première vue, l’itération de 2021 semble reprendre le design original de ce modèle. Cependant, une belle touche de modernité est ajoutée : la couche blanche recouvrant la tige peut se retirer afin de laisser apparaitre des motifs rouges, noirs et or faisant référence à la poupée japonaise porte-chance Daruma. On retrouve le logo rouge circulaire Daruma et l’inscription « I Believe » au niveau du talon latéral, ainsi que sur l’insole. Pour compléter le look, l’outsole jaunie en caoutchouc semi-translucide est remplacée par une élégante version icy.
Etant fan de la version originale sortie en 2002, et n’ayant pas pu me la procurer, je me devais de tout faire pour récupérer ce petit bijou laissant apparaitre de superbes motifs artistiques.
