After teaming up with REEBOK last month (article available HERE), Nice Kicks has teamed up with New Balance to present a 2002R « Purple Haze » silhouette paying tribute to legendary guitarist Jimmy Hendrix.
According to sources, this collab would have been made in partnership with Hendrix’s estate.
The San Francisco-based specialty store was inspired by the famous track « Purple Haze » to reinterpret the Boston-based manufacturer’s fashionable silhouette.
It consists of a purple mesh upper with matching suede overlays and mauve reinforcement at the heel. To ensure the reference to the 60s-70s and Jimmy Hendrix’s iconic style, the tongue appears in purple velvet and beads are threaded into the laces. A gold side N logo and red-orange accents on the inner lining, lace tips and mini N on the toe box ensure the tribute to the legendary guitarist. The look is finalized with « Purple » and « Haze » applied at the heels. The whole is based on a white midsole coupled with a black and red outsole.
