New Balance 990v6 by Teddy Santis

While the retro New Balance 990v3 silhouette continues to inspire big names in the sneaker world (various articles available on this site), the sixth version has just been unveiled. This 990v6 was presented by the new creative director of NB’s Made in USA program : Teddy Santis, the famous founder of the New York streetwear brand Aimé Leon Dore.

For the launch of this model, we find the famous New Balance signature grey colorway and the legendary multi-layered look created by a combination of suede and leather overlays on a mesh base. As with the first appearance of the 990v line 40 years ago, this shoe is adorned with reflective inserts and details. In terms of new features, the toe box seems to borrow some elements from the NB 992 and features an NB crest. At the back, the heel clip is redesigned and a 990 badge appears on the heel counter. To top it off, the famous ENCAP cushioned midsole has an updated finish. On this inaugural version, it’s dressed in white with a touch of pearl grey and bases on a two-tone black and grey outsole. To support the iconic « dad shoe » look of this line, the laces are, as traditionally, flat and white.

The New Balance 990v6 will be launched during the year 2022. For now, no further details have been given although rumors say May… Anyway, it’s likely that this silhouette will serve as a basis for interesting collaborations, starting with ALD. To not miss anything, stay tuned !
