Teddy Santis continues to offer us eye-catching streetwear chic, both with his brand Aimé Leon Dore and through the high-end line New Balance Made in USA of which he is the artistic director. At the end of May, the New York designer offered us a simple and elegant 990v3 « Sea Salt » (article available HERE). Today, he unveils a colorful summer version « Raw Amethyst ».
Teddy Santis moves away from the signature NB grey colorway and the classic ALD off-white hue to create a sneaker that is different from the popular styles of the 2 brands.
As the name suggests, this new 990v3 is dressed in purple reminiscent of the Amethyst variety of quartz. This color appears at the premium suede overlays. To ensure the look, the shoe comes in a harmonious color combination. It consists of a navy blue mesh base with charcoal grey suede inserts and benefits from an orange side N logo. The latter shade was also chosen to define the New Balance USA tongue branding, the 990 embroidery on the side heel and the NB badge under the heel tab. The tongue and laces appear in deep blue and the inner lining in white mesh, while the insole is adorned in the bold bright orange. The ENCAP technology midsole adds a retro touch to this pair with its yellowed hue reminiscent of the ALD NB 550 collaborative. Continuing in the spirit of blending old and new, the outsole is presented in black rubber with touches of light grey.
The New Balance 990v3 « Raw Amethyst » will be released on July 15, 2022 at select retailers like Naked and online at newbalance.com, for a price tag around $220. Be ready !
