Joe Freshgoods is one of the NB collaborators who made the 2002R a success (article available HERE). At the beginning of March, New Balance announced that they had appointed the talented designer as the creative director of their new « Conversation Amongst Us » campaign. Today Joe Freshgoods shares the first photos of the 550 revisited especially for this collection.
« Conversation Amongst Us » is a campaign created to promote exchange and brotherhood. It aims to highlight the interactions within the black community and promote dialogue with other communities.
Through his ability to understand others, his unique artistic sensibility and his experiences with successful collaborations with New Balance, Joe Freshgoods emerged as the perfect director for this campaign. He designs and will design pieces that reflect this spirit of openness and exchange.
As part of « Conversation Amongst Us », the Boston-based manufacturer has donated $100,000 to Commuity Goods, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping and supporting up-and-coming young designers.
On the sneaker side, the NB 2002, 574, KAWHI 2 and 550 will be part of the adventure.
Unveiled by Joe Freshgoods on his Instagram account, the 550 sports a vintage look, with its cream, grey and white yellowed color combination. It consists of an off-white canvas base with matching overlays and neutral grey furry suede inserts on the back of the foot. Cream side piping and a tonal N logo assert the design. The only touch of contrast comes in the finish of the iconic NB logo, which is presented in midnight blue. The tongue and insole are adorned with the « Conversations Amongst Us » campaign name coupled with the NB branding. The whole is based on a full cream sole that completes the look.
