[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]It was during the Paris Fashion Week 2020, that we discovered the latest shoe created by the designers of New Balance. Indeed, the equipment manufacturer from Boston surprised us by exhibiting a new collaborative model with the young French luxury brand Casablanca (article available HERE). This pair with a vintage look called NB 327 immediately aroused great interest from the public but also from other designers. Thus, a military-inspired collaboration was born with Shawn Yue’s label « Madness », then another one with bright shades created for the retailer Size?
Today, New Balance comes back with a non-collaborative 327 pack in three colours : a classic Grey/White, a bold Blue/Orange and an women exclusive Black/Grey/Light Pink.
The NB 327 model, with a 70’s retro running style, is made of high quality materials. The upper combines premium pigskin suede and nylon inserts. In terms of aesthetics, the shoe is divided into two parts : the inner and outer sides are in different colours and give the model a « chic mismatched » effect. The imposing N logo, taken from the classic NB 320, covers the outer quarter panel. The white colour chosen to present the laces and the tongue brings an extra touch of elegance to these iterations. We find the slogan « the intelligent choice » and the number 327 on the inner label of the tongue. The whole is based on a midsole with EVA technology and a « waffle » outsole, which is reminiscent of the NB 355 and of the athletic shoes of the 70’s such as the famous « Moon shoe », with large rubber studs.
The classic colorway « Grey/White », anchored in the DNA of the brand, emphasizes its timeless side. These understated shades can be found all over the shoe. The soft pearl grey suede covers the toebox, the laceguard and the heel, while the sides are in luminous grey nylon for one and pure white for the other. The unmistakable N logo stands out in white on the grey outer side. For a final touch of elegance, the lining is white and the whole is based on an off-white midsole combined with a black outsole.
The flashy and bold « Blue/Orange » colorway adds pep to this model. There are two totally different sides: one in two shades of blue, with an N logo and the midsole part coloured in deep yellow, and the other combining dark orange and bright orange with a touch of orange-yellow on the heel counter in suede and a white midsole. To assert the racy character of this iteration, the whole is based on a black outsole.
The « Black/Grey/Light Pink »colorway, reserved for women, mixes softness and strength. On the outside of the shoe, we find black suede combined with grey nylon on which the silver-coloured N logo is overlayed. The inner nylon part is in light pink and a New Balance branding inscription appears in off-white on the heel counter. This latter colour is used to dress the entire midsole. To add the final touch of design, the whole is based on a light grey outsole.
The three colorways of this New Balance 327 will be come out in a general release on 9 May on the brand’s website and some retailers like Foot Locker. For the men’s models, the price should be 100€ and for the women’s sneaker 85€. However, given the quality of the design and the hype of this new silhouette, we can think that the price will finally be increased… Stay tuned.
