Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic Leather Tabi Décortiquée Low

Building on the success of their previous collaboration, Reebok and Maison Margiela start 2022 by presenting us with a new project. The 2 partners unveil a Classic Leather Tabi Décortiqué Low silhouette, which is a low-profile version of the Classic Leather Tabi High introduced in June 2021.

The French fashion house took an interest in Reebok’s legendary Classic Leather sneaker, originally released in the fall of 1983. It reinterpreted it through the « décortiqué » technique developed by its creative director, the famous John Galliano.

« Décortiqué » is the technical term used by Maison Margiela to describe the deconstruction of a garment or accessory down to its basic structure. By cutting around the architectural framework of an object, its highest construction is then revealed. « Décortiqué » is also a figurative process that embodies the values of authenticity and individualism that are at the heart of Maison Margiela.

The Classic Leather appears in its simplest form. The cutouts are positioned on the side panels and heel, revealing empty spaces and the fabric lining. We find a signature of the French fashion brand : the split toe, derived from the 1988 Tabi shoe.

This Classic Leather Tabi Décortiquée Low is available in 4 colorways : black, white, red and bianchetto which is an exclusive colorway of the Maison Margiela. It’s a black leather base hand-painted in white and voluntarily flakes with use.

The Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic Leather Tabi Décortiquée Low, available in 4 colorways, will be released on January 28, 2022 in selected stores and on the partners’ websites, maisonmargiela.com and reebok.com. The price is set at 595$ (405£) for the leather versions and 650$ (440£) for the bianchetto.
