In addition to his ongoing Off-White x Nike collabs (articles available on this site), Virgil Abloh unveils Air Force 1 designed in collaboration with Louis Vuitton. In total, 21 colorways should be part of the Spring 2022 collection of the French luxury fashion brand.
Designer Virgil Abloh, head of Louis Vuitton’s men’s division, presented his new « Amen Break » collection on Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Paris Fashion Week.
We discover the Nike Air Force 1 revisited paying tribute to the Hip-Hop culture. This collab is inspired by the cover of the album of Robe & DJ E-Z Rock « It Takes Two » released in 1988, which highlights one of the first customs Louis Vuitton x Air Force 1. The French luxury brand said, « The cover embodied the Hip-Hop community’s initial practice of combining high fashion and sportswear, setting aside divergent brands with equal respect. A cultural symbol in its own right, the Nike Air Force 1 is now an iconic piece of art from a self-generated subcultural provenance ».
The 21 colorways unveiled include Low and Mid versions of the legendary silhouette. The uppers appear in premium leather, in « White/Red », « White/Yellow » or « White/Purple » colorblocks, but also featuring the famous LV checkerboard print or Vuitton’s signature patterns. We also discover velvet or glossy upper. These shoes are adorned with Abloh’s signature details such as zig-zag stitching, « Air » lettering on the midsole and « Lacet » on the aglets (lace tips), as well as the unstructured tongue tag and small tag sewn under the iconic side Swoosh.
