Chicago-based Filipino-American visual artist Louis De Guzman has teamed up once again with NEW BALANCE brand and FOOT LOCKER’s Greenhouse unit. After an inaugural NB 574 collaborative released just over a year ago (review available HERE), a new version was unveiled today.
GREENHOUSE acts as an innovation arm of FOOT LOCKER by offering carefully selected partnerships. These collaborations contribute to the modern resurgence of the sportswear retail giant.
With Louis De Guzman’s partnership, the legendary NB 574 silhouette sports an artistic look inspired by the designer’s « In Between the Lines » painting series. It’s dressed in the designer’s signature color palette and features iconic geometric details.
The talented designer said : « Being able to apply « In Between the Lines » body of work and subject matter towards the colourblocking and tooling of the 574 has been a humbling process. The journey is truly the best part of accomplishing our own goals and aspirations ».
The black mesh upper is complemented by ice blue suede overlays and pearl grey or black leather quarter panels. Red suede inserts, subtle touches of neon pink and graphics from « In Between the Lines » appearing in relief on the side N logo confirm the distinctive style. Other branding details, such as new balance on the heel and tongue tag are also presented in a very discreet tone-on-tone fashion to ensure the design and add a touch of refinement to the silhouette. The co-branded insole is covered in a print referencing Louis De Guzman’s artwork that inspired the look of this collaborative sneaker. A two-tone sole, black on the front and white on the back of the foot, coupled with a black outsole adds the finishing touch.
The pair comes in a special box with the artist’s famous signature print. The shoe is accompanied by a collaborative capsule including hoodies, t-shirts, jogging pants and nylon shorts, as well as socks.
The Louis De Guzman x New Balance 574 will be released exclusively on December 7, 2021 on the Greenhouse app. It will then be available a day later, on December 8, at Foot Locker, in stores and online footlocker.com, for 85$.
