The famous Belgian shop L’ORIGINAL NAMUR has teamed up with the self-taught contemporary artist Paps Touré to present an exclusive collaboration. This very limited capsule consists of 2 hoodies named « Le Charbon » and « La Rue ».
The ORIGINAL NAMUR was founded 10 years ago, in 2011, and has for leitmotiv the passion. Mainly the passion for sneakers, streetwear, hip-hop and street-art. The store tries to be a meeting place and regularly organizes events around its passions.
In these complicated times of restrictions due to the global health crisis, L’ORIGINAL NAMUR had to put some event projects on hold, but took the opportunity to partner with the talented artist from the 19th district of Paris, Paps Touré.
This photographic artist is known for taking snapshots, telling a story in a single image and being able to convey a strong and committed message. Paps Touré prefers to use « black and white » rather than « color » for his photos. He explains that for him « black and white is a safe value, it’s timeless : an art photo must be in black and white, while color photos are more reminiscent of vacation memories ». After leaving school at 16 and spending 10 years on the street, Paps Touré now lives from his photos and owns the art gallery « Le souffle de l’Art » where he exhibits his work but also allows other artists to get visibility.
In addition to the passion of street-art, the Original Namur and Paps Touré also share an unconditional love for dogs. A nod to this common passion can be found on the 2 hoodies designed in collaboration : A slogan « In Dog We Trust » appears in the center of the special logo developed for the occasion.
The hoodies are both black and feature a photo taken by Paps Touré on the chest.
« Le Charbon » parallels the double meaning that recurs in the artist’s photos. This shot shows a man with a pickaxe confronting a row of CRS in front of a Parisian building.
« La Rue » refers to the popular expression. The photo features a crashed white car, turned over on a cobblestone Parisian street with the Eiffel Tower lit up in the background.
These hoodies are limited to 60 pieces per version. They adorn by numbering inside the collar and the embroidered patch featuring the special L’Original Namur x Paps Touré « In Dog We Trust » logo. The Parisian artist’s signature stands out below the photo and the Belgian shop’s embroidered logo adorns the right shoulder.
The L’Original Namur x Paps Touré collaborative capsule is available for pre-order online at loriginalnamur.com. The price is set at 110$ per version and sizesrun S to XXXL. As this is a pre-order and a limited edition of 60 pieces per color, the delivery time is estimated at 20 days maximum.
