[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]A few months ago, I told you in an article (available HERE) about the second collaboration between Asics, Singaporean artist Mr Sabotage aka SBTG and Singaporean retailer Limited Edt. The latter was conceived as a logical follow-up to the first « Monsoon Patrol » release in 2018.
Having had the chance to receive it thanks to my friends at Limited Edt, I suggest you to discover it in pictures at my feet.
The « Monsoon Patrol II » uses the same codes as its predecessor, in a lighter color palette, mixing light grey « Gris Pedmont » with lichen green and a touch of black.
It consists of a water-resistant upper in a ribbed nylon material, reminiscent of cuddly jackets, with smooth suede and hairy suede overlays. As on the first version, we find the waterproof and removable tongue cover. A discreet camouflage print on the sides of the shoe and on the insole, as well as a technical text on the side heel, already seen on the previous shoe, complete the look. A novelty appears on the instep area. The iconic split tongue is tightened with classic yellow laces, topped for the first time by an additional black elastic lacing system called « Rebel Lace System ». Another exclusive feature is the the tongue cover with a reflective « Spell Out » logo embellished with the technical text and the model name. SBTG’s signature appears on the camouflage prints on the insole and under the Asics logo. A black inner lining and heel clip finalize the design. The whole is based on a white midsole with legendary GEL technology and a light grey outsole.
I find this second version as successful as the previous one, with premium materials and an equally effective colorway. I’m not a fan of the lace cover that I preferred to remove, but I validate 100% the double lacing system that gives it a real outdoor identity.
